Deng Simon Garang

Deng was born in 1987 and lives in Panyango in The Republic of South Sudan and wants to contribute to peaceful co-existence in the Horn of Africa. He is studying medicin to become a doctor and help those in need. Deng is from a Christian family and has 11 siblings.

Kaltun Osman Mohamed

Born in 1991 and is from Mogadishu in Somalia. She dreams of contributing to bring peace to her home-country and holds an education in community health.

Shani Mohamed

Shani was born in 1990 and is from Mogadishu, Somalia. Shani dreams about documenting food insecurity in the Horn of Africa and work with advocating womens’ rights and feminism and report about abuse of women. Shani is from a big family with 20 brothers.

Hanan Abd Elhakam

is 26 years old and from Khartoum in Sudan. Hanan’s goal is to establish a vocational training center for women empowerment and work within the field of peace building and human rights. Hanan has a bachelor in veterinary medicine and animal production and a higher diploma in NGOs management. She has a brother(eng.Wael) ,Hanan`s father is engeenier and her mother is teacher

Mohamed Osman

Mohamed was born in 1986 in Mogadishu and currently lives in Nairobi, Kenya and wants to be an entrepreneur to improve the socio-economy status of the people in the Greater Horn of Africa Region that is where he is from. He studied Bachelor of Commerce in India. He is from Muslim background family with four siblings, and he is planning to pursue a masters degree in Public Management.

Amal Ankar Jinale

is 21 years old and from Mogadishu, Somalia. She wants to be an independent person, finish her studies to contribute in peace-making for her country. Amal is pursuing a masters in international relations and has four sisters and seven brothers.

Yonis Ali

Born in 1984 and is from Mogadishu, Somalia and wants to fight poverty and help getting people an education. Yonis has a bachelor in computer science and a major in network engineering from India. He lives with his mom in Nairobi and has six brothers and nine sisters.

Warda Hassan

is 20 years old, comes from Mogadishu and dreams of going back to Somalia. wants to be a doctor and teach young people about peaceful co-existence, and is therefore studying medicin in Nairobi. She is unmarried and an only child.

Denk Malek Buoi

is 28 years old and from South Sudan and want to develop a community organization to enhance medical and education services as well as researching the problems of tribal conflicts among communities to reduce violence in his home country. Deng is from a Christian family and has two siblings.

Selama Abraha

Selama was born 1986 and is from Addis Abeba in Ethiopia and has a degree in global studies and international relations and wants to contribute to building a forum for dialogue and working for her community. Selama is from af family with a housekeeping mother, a father who is a businessman, five brothers and one sister.

Eshete Tesfaye

Eshete was born in 1983 and lives in Addis Abeba in Ethiopia and hopes to contribute positively to his community. He is a bachelor of science and management information systems. Eshete’s father is a social consultancy in the private sector an his mother an accountant. He lives with his family and has two brothers and two sister.

Mahelet Shewangzaw

Mahelet born in 1985 and lives in Addis Abeba in Ethipia and dreams about becoming a humanitarian worker and peace advocate in Africa. She has an LLM in Law and wants to connect with people in Africa to promote peace and awareness about the Greater Horn of Africa around the world. Mahelet is from a family with two brothers, two sisters and her parents working as consultants.

Bashir Muhammed Fidow

Bashir was born in 1984 and from Mogadishu, Somalia and dreams of promoting peace and democracy in Somalia and the region. Bashir has a masters in Business Administrations and is from a family with six sisters and nine brothers.

Abdifatah Bashir

Abdifatah was born in 1984 and is from Mogadishu, Somalia and works with building the organization Grehaya with the goal of securing children in the ongoing conflict in Somalia. He is pursuing a masters in public relations and has three sisters and one brother. Abdifatah is married and has one child.

Sawsan Sinada

Born in 1984 and lives in Khartoum in Sudan. Sawsan wants to improve the conditions for people in her community and share her knowledge across borders. She holds a PhD in Nutrition an hopes as a peace advocate to work with human rights and gender issues in Sudan. Sawsans mother is a professor, her father a journalist, and she has two brothers and three sisters.

NAIROBI SEMINAR 2011

This blog was set up during a Crossing Borders / GREHAYA seminar in November 2011 in Nairobi by the participants from Sudan, South Sudan, Somalia and Ethiopia.
